"They" matter
Who are "they"? ANYBODY in any way affected by the decision of our school corporation to provide a device to every high school student starting in 2015-2016. So, who are "they"?
- High School Teachers
- Students
- Parents
- Administrators
- IT department
- Special needs teachers and aides
- Siblings
- School board
- Middle and Elementary school teachers
- The community as a whole
- A change is coming. Kids are learning differently than when we were students. They have no need for a teacher to provide them with facts...ever. Any fact they could ever want to know can be found in a few hundredths of a second with a Google search.
- Using technology for technology's sake is not acceptable. An engaging, effective lesson does not have to employ any technology. But chances are that if a teacher does not incorporate technology in some way, students won't stay engaged for a whole year.
- Teaching citizenship is part of our curriculum. But in this digital age, teaching digital citizenship (and more importantly modeling it) is the responsibility of every teacher.
